Ballistocardiography (BCG) is a non-invasive biosignal measurement technology that detects subtle body movements generated by the mechanical activity of the cardiovascular system.These movements occur as the heart pumps blood throughout the body, and by analyzing these micro-vibrations, it provides critical insights into cardiovascular health, including heart rate, cardiac output, and respiratory activity.

Principle
  • Detects the mechanical recoil of the heart (Ballistocardiogram, BCG) using a compact MEMS accelerometer
  • Calculates heart rate, respiration rate, and cardiac output through embedded algorithms in the microcontroller

  • Non-invasive, contact-free, and unobtrusive — no electrodes required
  • Enables long-term monitoring when integrated into hospital beds, chairs, or smart furniture
